We are coming to your house –
We are staying overnight!
Columbus Day adventure:
Two boys, The Aunt –
it will be an Autumn delight!
We are here, we are well-rested,
Let us “help” The Uncle run the hot grill!
We will watch Harry Potter here,
While you watch the zombie premiere there –
Can I see if your show is scarier than a Hogwarts thrill?
We are in bed, we want to go to sleep,
Aunt Terra this! Aunt Terra that!
We want a story,
He’s touching me!
Aren’t you done yet in the bathroom yet?
We are sleeping! Now we’re not!
We giggle every hour, and are still rested!
We want you to make us pancakes!
(and eat them no matter how bad),
Take us on a hike: where is it poison ivy-infested?
We’re not keeping up, even though you carry everything,
A deer! A blue jay! An autumnal river gorge view!
Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?
Look, I can make wings over my head with my jacket!
…and thus ends another adventure with nephews, two.
