In early 2011, I entered the “Great Stories from the Great Outdoors” essay contest sponsored by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
My essay about hiking in the Adirondack Mountains was selected for the Grand Prize from more than 100 entries. Read my blog post about winning that award here.
I received a signed art print and my essay was later published in the official magazine of the NYS DEC, The Conservationist:
